Blairsville, Pa. — October 16, 2017. The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) proudly announces that its Board of Directors approved the addition of five new Alliance Partners: Additive Engineering Solutions LLC; GGS Information Services, Inc.; Parker Hannifin Corporation; the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University; and Spring Technologies Inc.

“NCDMM’s goal is to deliver advanced, innovative manufacturing technologies,” said Ralph Resnick, NCDMM President and Executive Director. “The most effective way to achieve our goal is through collaboration. That’s the NCDMM methodology. Our Alliance Partner network is comprised of organizations leading in R&D and the development of innovative manufacturing technologies. With their state-of-the-art skills and capabilities, we welcome Additive Engineering Solutions, GGS Information Services, Parker Hannifin, the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University, and Spring Technologies into our ranks.”

Additive Engineering Solutions (AES) LLC was founded in 2015 in Akron, Ohio, and is the first, globally, to offer large scale 3D printing (3DP) services using Cincinnati’s BAAM FDM Technology. The company’s focus is printing tooling and molds for a variety of industries with the remainder of its work coming from large-scale prototypes and mock ups. AES’ core services allow for full integration of tool and mold making for industry.

Headquartered in York, Penn., GGS Information Services (GGS), Inc., is the largest, privately held global provider of technical information, servicing a wide array of industries, including agriculture, aerospace, construction equipment, defense, and transportation. Founded in 1988, GGS is recognized as a leading provider of integrated logistic support services (logistics engineering, technical manuals, training, and provisioning), database management systems, and engineering support services for large original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the aerospace, defense, heavy equipment, mining, agricultural, and transportation industries.

Parker Hannifin Corporation – Composite Sealing Systems Division pioneered sealing solutions more than 60 years ago with a focus primarily on the emerging aircraft and aerospace markets of the 1950s and their need for ultra-reliable sealing devices. Today, Parker Hannifin is using that experience and technology to serve aerospace, military, semiconductor, energy oil and gas, diesel/heavy duty, fluid power, and automotive markets with engineered static sealing solutions. Parker Hannifin’s wide range of elastomer and metal seal materials and coating technology, unique sealing geometry, and more than five decades of proven sealing experience provide the necessary components needed for sealing demanding environments.

Established in 1985, the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University (WSU) is a unique R&D facility focused on providing testing and certification for aerospace technologies. Working under nondisclosure agreements, NIAR laboratories provide services to federal agencies, aviation industry clients, and other manufacturing industry clients. NIAR provides research and testing for materials, components, systems, and full vehicles. NIAR can assist with the development of technology through fundamental material research, design assistance, analysis and simulation, prototyping and qualification, and certification testing. As a result of NIAR’s research efforts, WSU ranks fourth among all U.S. universities in aeronautical R&D expenditures, according to the National Science Foundation. WSU also ranks first in industry-funded aeronautical research.

SPRING Technologies, Inc. develops software solutions designed to optimize manufacturing companies’ CNC machines to reduce costs and maximize productivity. Its product, NCSIMUL SOLUTIONS®, is an all-in-one CNC software that manages the complete machining process from the NC program to the part machined. Its capabilities allow users to fully master the shop floor and include automatic G-code reprogramming, G-code simulation, and cutting-tool management. The company, established in 1983, collaborates with manufacturers in aerospace and defense, transportation, energy industrial equipment, and medical device sectors worldwide.

NCDMM established a team of Alliance Partners to support the activities of the Center with state-of-the-art skills and capabilities. One of the unique features of NCDMM’s approach to the development and deployment of best solutions is the effective integration of the specialized and innovative skills, technologies, and practices of these organizations. Each Alliance Partner provides a significant manufacturing technology expertise that can be directly applied to the manufacturing issues faced by Department of Defense and contractor facilities today.

NCDMM will continue to add Alliance Partners that support its mission and have a passion for advancing the capability of U.S. manufacturers through the development and application of state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques.
