NCDMM to be Recognized as 2024 Finalist for Manufacturing Leadership Awards

JOHNSTOWN, PA — The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) has been recognized by the Manufacturing Leadership Council as a finalist for the 2024 Manufacturing Leadership Awards in the category of Digital Supply Chains for its project titled NE Defense Supply Chain Enhancement for Additive Manufacturing.

Designed to create new and improve existing education and training capabilities within the New England Department of Defense (DoD) supply chain region, the NE Defense Supply Chain Enhancement project directly addresses the need to propagate skills throughout the supply chain to advance the adoption of additively manufactured (AM) components within formal production environments.

NCDMM developed new AM process techniques, created a curriculum, trained students and manufacturers, solicited competitive manufacturing contracts, and disseminated knowledge of the learned process techniques. This project ensures student and workforce training compatibility and emphasizes exercising skills throughout the supply chain. The result is a more efficient and effective supply chain ready to compete globally.

“It is an honor to be recognized as a finalist by the Manufacturing Leadership Council not only for this project but also for our commitment to enhancing the advanced manufacturing ecosystem,” said Gary Fleegle, NCDMM President and CEO. “We remain dedicated to delivering innovative and collaborative solutions that strengthen our nation’s workforce and economic competitiveness and to advancing manufacturing technologies and methodologies.”

NCDMM will be recognized, along with other award finalists, at the Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala, set for June 5, 2024, at the JW Marriott in Marco Island, FL. Winners in all project and individual categories will be announced then, along with the Manufacturers of the Year and Manufacturing Leader of the Year.
