NCDMM Awarded $42 Million Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Contract

Blairsville, Pa. — June 25, 2015. The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) proudly announces it has been awarded a $42 million Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle. The five-year contract vehicle is administered by the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command’s (RDECOM) Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) Division.

An IDIQ contract enables the Department of Defense (DoD) to efficiently utilize the manufacturing expertise of the NCDMM. It is the third such contract to be awarded to the NCDMM since its inception in 2003.

“On behalf of all of us at NCDMM, we are honored to have the opportunity to continue to support the needs of RDECOM, AMRDEC, and the warfighter with this third IDIQ award,” said Ralph Resnick, NCDMM President and Executive Director. “This IDIQ contract award is indicative of and a testament to the success of our collaborative business model and achievements under the previous IDIQ contract. We look forward to working with our extensive network of partners to enable RDECOM and AMRDEC achieve their goals while enhancing the quality, affordability, maintainability, and rapid deployment of existing and yet-to-be developed defense systems.”

The NCDMM is recognized as a leader in delivering and implementing advanced manufacturing innovation solutions to defense organizations and their industrial base. Its history of success has saved the DoD more than $500M to date and has, in many cases, cut delivery times nearly in half. The projects conducted by the NCDMM have improved quality and extended service life of the component system and the process by which a given component system is supported. NCDMM’s efforts have also improved the skills of the workforce by the increased use of appropriate technologies and practices by moving from existing, and often outdated, practices to state-of-the-market and state-of-the-art methods.

About NCDMM

NCDMM delivers optimized manufacturing solutions that enhance the quality, affordability, maintainability, and rapid deployment of existing and yet-to-be developed defense systems. This is accomplished through collaboration with government, industry, and academic organizations to promote the implementation of best practices to key stakeholders through the development and delivery of disciplined training, advanced technologies, and methodologies. NCDMM also manages the national accelerator for additive manufacturing (AM) and 3DP printing (3DP), America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute. “AMRDEC is part of the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, which has the mission to develop technology and engineering solutions for America’s Soldiers. AMRDEC employs nearly 11,000 civilian scientists, researchers, and engineers.

RDECOM is a major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command. AMC is the Army’s premier provider of materiel readiness — technology, acquisition support, materiel development, logistics power projection, and sustainment — to the total force, across the spectrum of joint military operations. “
