Mr. Oldroyd Fills BoD Position Left Vacant by Dean Bartles’ Appointment to NCDMM President and CEO
Blairsville, Pa. — October 9, 2019. The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) announces that Paul K. Oldroyd has been elected to its Board of Directors, filling the Board position left vacant by Dean Bartles’ appointment to NCDMM President and CEO.
All other NCDMM Board of Directors appointments remain the same. Mr. Oldroyd joins these NCDMM Board of Directors:
- Mark Gordon, President, Mfg Strategy, Inc.
- Thomas R. Kurfess, Ph.D., P.E., Chief Manufacturing Officer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory
- Michael D. Packer, Director of Manufacturing for Advanced Production Programs at Lockheed Martin Skunk Works® and NCDMM Chairman of the Board
- Jim Williams, President, ResoluteX50, Inc. dba All Points Additive
- Douglas K. Woods, President, AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology
“I want to extend my congratulations to Paul on being elected to the NCDMM Board of Directors,” said Dr. Bartles. “I am confident that he will leverage his extensive and accomplished career experience, offering innovative insights and unique perspectives as a member of the NCDMM Board. I also want to recognize our other long-serving Board members for all their continued contributions and work on behalf of our organization.”
Currently, Mr. Oldroyd serves as a Technical Fellow, Engineering & Manufacturing Process Development for Bell Flight / Textron Inc., in Fort Worth, Texas. Throughout his 35-year career at Bell, he has distinguished himself as an expert in many areas of technology development and maturation, engineering, design, R&D, engineering and manufacturing management. As a member of the Technical Fellow corps, his focus is mostly strategic in nature serving as an advisor to emerging product teams and leading the development of technology roadmaps. His recent focus has been working with Bell’s Innovation team to explore autonomous flight for logistics, transition-to-production strategy for emerging products, and long-term manufacturing strategy. To this end, Paul is co-inventor of Bell’s APT family of vehicles. His Fellowship charter also includes a responsibility to provide Bell leadership and other Textron business units with intelligence regarding current state-of-the-art and future state process knowledge for metals and composites processing, fabrication, automation, and assembly & integration technologies.
Mr. Oldroyd is a frequent author and speaker. He has also served on numerous advisory boards, steering committees, panels, and councils. Mr. Oldroyd holds 44 patents and several patents pending for process and product inventions. He is a recipient of the “Donald C. Burnham International award for Excellence in Manufacturing Management” from SME; a two-time recipient of the “Robert L. Pinkney Award” for Excellence in Manufacturing Innovation from American Helicopter Society International; and a two-time recipient of the “Textron Chairman’s Award for Innovation.”
Mr. Oldroyd holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University.
