William Varnell

Project Engineer

William joined NCDMM in 2024 and is responsible for managing projects, providing engineering design and technical analysis, coordinating processes, and developing project implementation.

Previously, he was a Mechanical Engineer at Teledyne Brown Engineering, which provides full-spectrum systems engineering, integration, manufacturing, and lifecycle sustainment solutions to the maritime, aerospace, defense, energy, and environment markets. In his role, he worked with a team to design, develop, and deliver a fleet of crewed combat submersible vehicles. He conducted comprehensive design evaluations to assess and align vehicle performance with system requirements and presented program status reports and key critical design review briefings for diverse stakeholders.

William received his master’s in Business Administration and bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama.
