Michael Wheatley

Senior Project Engineer

Michael joined NCDMM in 2025 as a Senior Project Engineer. He is responsible for advancing business initiatives and enhancing procurement processes while effectively leading and managing projects. 

Michael brings nearly 30 years of experience guiding integrated manufacturing and engineering product teams and managing business operations. Before joining NCDMM, Michael was a Lead Project Engineer at Aerojet Rocketdyne in Huntsville, AL, where he successfully coordinated efforts among government entities and prime contractors, aligning activities with strategic objectives. 

Prior to his time at Aerojet, he was a Project Manager at Umicore Specialty Chemicals in Alabama. His focus included construction and startup of new production facilities, along with facility and equipment upgrades. In addition, he played a critical role during the company’s complex business transition to deliver high-quality results that supported organizational goals. 

Michael is a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) in the state of Alabama and earned a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
