Brian Schmidt

Program Manager & Laboratory Operations Director

Brian joined NCDMM in 2013 as a Project Engineer. He has since been promoted to Program Manager and Laboratory Operations Director. As a technical and manufacturing generalist, Brian supports advanced manufacturing technology initiatives and manufacturing assessment and optimization activities. He has also been instrumental in furthering the development of the manufacturing assessment pillar of expertise within NCDMM. Brian also provides program and project management, manufacturing and design expertise, team leadership, and various technical and process experience capabilities to NCDMM.

Before NCDMM, Brian served in multiple manufacturing roles, encompassing the full breadth of manufacturing from initial design through the installation and service of manufactured products. He also conducted product development and design activities, starting with a clean slate and revising existing designs and products, including design optimization for manufacturing. These capabilities have been obtained through various positions, including Production, Manufacturing, Design, Management and Product Development.

Brian holds a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s in Business Administration from Seton Hill University.
