Technology Transition Director

Ben DiMarco joined NCDMM in July 2024 as the Technology Transition Director, bringing over 15 years of experience in advanced manufacturing. He is responsible for leveraging industry and research experience to industrialize additive manufacturing.

Previously, Ben served as the Additive Manufacturing Technology Leader at The Ohio State University’s Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME), where he was a Principal Engineer and acted as PI on over $3.0M in research awards focused on advanced manufacturing. During his tenure at CDME, he played a pivotal role in expanding the metal additive manufacturing capabilities, overseeing the growth of the lab from five to 14 metal printers. Before joining Ohio State, he spent nine years in the aerospace and automotive sectors with Honda R&D Americas, where he was instrumental in establishing the metal additive manufacturing lab in the United States and developing initial process strategies for laser powder bed fusion, with a specific emphasis on nickel super alloys.

Ben received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Akron University. He obtained a Masters in Global Engineering Leadership: Additive Manufacturing from The Ohio State University and is on track to complete his Ph.D. in Industrial Systems Engineering there in 2025. He is actively involved in professional standards committees such as AMS, ASTM, and SAE. Ben was appointed as an America Makes Ambassador for Additive Manufacturing in 2022 and in 2023 served on the Institute’s Executive Committee.
