Shawn joined NCDMM in 2005 as a Senior Project Engineer and has more than 21 years of experience in the manufacturing industry. In this role, Shawn is responsible for managing all aspects of projects, including developing and maintaining project budgets and schedules along with ensuring all customer deliverables are met.
Highly skilled in project management, Shawn has a very diverse project background. During Shawn’s tenure, he has been responsible for many NCDMM and America Makes projects and was part of the Naval Propulsion Shaft Cycle Reduction project team that won the 2008 Defense Manufacturing Excellence Award at DMC. Shawn has worked on numerous projects including Machining Alloy 625 Propulsor Components with Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) and BAE, Additive Manufacturing of Biomedical Devices from Bioresorbable Metallic Alloys for Medical Applications with the University of Pittsburgh, and the M228 Practice Grenade Confidence Clip Automation with Blue Grass Army Depot (BGAD) and the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC).
Shawn’s work has impacted many weapon systems, such as the Joint Strike Fighter, the Chinook and Black Hawk Helicopter programs, the M228 Practice Grenade, Hydra 70 Flechette Warhead and many others.
Prior to joining NCDMM, Shawn has worked in the commercial, medical, and defense industries and has been heavily involved with research and development projects in those areas. Shawn began his career with CTC’s Powder Metallurgy Group after completing his Mechanical Engineering studies. Shawn has extensive mechanical design and project/program management experience. Shawn was further involved with mechanical design and project/program management in the robotics and plastic injection molding industries. Shawn has designed and implemented robotic equipment that held company record sales for more than three years straight.
