Position Summary
As the EWD Project Engineer, you will be a valued and trusted member of the NCDMM and America Makes EWD team, reporting to the America Makes EWD Director. You will effectively and efficiently plan, lead, and execute multiple projects within the defined project scope and budgetary constraints.  Additionally, you will develop statements of work, cost proposals, and timelines for the onboarding of new projects. Project Engineers must communicate well with customers, management, other engineers, and technicians.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative and results-oriented team player with a passion for managing and executing workforce development projects and programs. You bring demonstrated competency in project management, ideally having engaged in EWD programming. The candidate is also detail and task-oriented as this role requires the team member to both think creatively and execute tasks operationally.

This team member will also be asked to assist in the deployment of best practice programs in building awareness and inspiration as well as work closely with members to scale programs through train-the-trainer in their local communities.

Essential Functions

  • Effectively and efficiently plan, lead, and execute multiple EWD projects within their defined project scopes and constraints, including:
  • Proactively manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables for 9-60 month, $0.3 million – $5 million projects and programs.
  • Takes ownership of tasking including overall project deliverables and internal engagement
  • Manage and delegate tasks to external project team members for timely execution of assignments.
  • Engage in the tracking and conversion of new project opportunities.
  • Works with managers and contract authorities to ensure quality project reporting, subject to internal and external audits.
  • Detailed tracking of metrics and success stories.
  • Timely and efficient communication skills both internal and external.
  • Travel to customer and/or team member sites for meetings, workshops, and presentations (<25% travel is expected).
  • Support and assist with the execution of the overall EWD project portfolio, including but not limited to managing partnership agreements, invoice tracking, and other tasks assigned by the business manager. This may also include assistance in preparing proposals and reporting.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related engineering technical area with 3-5 years of relevant experience or
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or curriculum/instructional design with 3-5 years of relevant experience or
  • Associate’s degree in engineering or a related engineering technical area with at least 6 years relevant experience with depth of experience in workforce programs.
  • Experience with managing and/or supporting large-scale/multi-year educational and workforce development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated record engaging with and communicating on a technical and non-technical level, tailored to a diverse audience across government, academia, and industry.
  • Strong written communication and reporting skills, including technical report writing and reviewing, are a must.
  • Experience as part of grant programs, assisting in grant writing and development as well as providing metrics collection and metric reporting.
