The NCDMM and BlueSwarf Manufacturing Laboratories are proud to announce their new program to offer advanced optimization services for CNC machining center tooling. This program uses patented BlueSwarf MetalMAX™ and Harmonizer® technologies to provide NCDMM clients with the maximum available chatter-free tool speeds, feeds and cutting depths. Using this technology will provide an immediate and dramatic improvement in machine productivity, which is particularly beneficial for high volume or long machining operations.

The program works as follows. First, NCDMM engineers will visit a facility to conduct a series of impact (or tap) tests on any brand of milling tool in a specific machine spindle. Second, NCDMM will transmit this information to BlueSwarf's staff of machining dynamics experts, who will analyze the data and an interactive computerized Tool Dashboard™ will be produced. Third, NCDMM will provide the Tool Dashboard™ to the user and provide any additional assistance necessary to ensure the information used effectively.

With the Dashboard tool, users will be able to forecast tool stability as they manipulate cutting conditions such as cutting depth and width, spindle speeds and feed rates before the tools ever enters the cut. Optimizing the cutting conditions will maximize metal removal rate and reduce overall cut time. In typical applications improvement in metal removal rates of more than 30%, overall energy reduction of at least 20%, and a doubling of tool life have been realized.
