The NCDMM Summit 2008 was held at NCDMM headquarters in Latrobe, Pennsylvania on May 7 & 8, 2008. The theme of this year's event was Bridging Opportunities Through Partnership which was conveyed in various ways throughout the Summit. To begin the Summit, Alliance Partners were invited to attend a "Year in Review" to review recent accomplishments within the NCDMM Team and discuss opportunities for the upcoming year, including challenges within emerging markets such as CMC material.

Following a networking luncheon was the Guest Speaker Presentation segment provided the audience with a great perspective of manufacturing issues being faced by the DoD and emphasized the need for collaboration to best address these challenges.

Guest Speakers included:

  • Doug Schaefer – Director, Producibility and Manufacturing; Missile Defense Agency
  • Terry Brady – CMC Program Manager; ATK Tactical Systems
  • Terry Hora – Director of Business Management; Tobyhanna Army Depot
  • Stephen Luckowski – Competency Manager, Materials, Manufacturing and Prototype Technology; U.S.Army ARDEC
  • Jeff Kelly – CEO; Hamill Manufacturing and 2007 Chairman of National Tooling and Machining Association

To wrap up the day's events, an evening reception offered more opportunities to interact. Numerous Alliance Partners exhibited their technologies and tours were offered of the NCDMM Testing and Development Laboratory for attendees to better understand the capabilities and technologies available through the NCDMM and its Alliance Partner network.
