Through creative relationships with a variety of U.S. technology providers, the Center is able to maintain state-of-the-art demonstration capabilities in its Testing and Development Laboratory. These capabilities include:

• 5-axis machining
• High-speed machining (up to 50,000 RPM)
• Portable coordinate measuring/inspection
• High-accuracy fixed bed coordinate measuring with laser, white light and touch probe
• High-accuracy optical visual inspection equipment
• Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)
• Surface finish profilometer (angstrom level accuracy)
• State-of-the-art tooling, fixturing, and measuring instruments
• State-of-the-art CNC programming and verification software

These relationships allow for a constant evolution of state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies available at the NCDMM for use in its project activities. Through the Center's JUMPEDSM methodology, these technologies are often deployed at DoD or contractor facilities as part of the transition of the best solution for that facility.

The leadership and services of the NCDMM are having a significant positive impact on the operations of its skakeholders, which is broadly recognized and continues to motivate the expanding involvement of Air Force, Army, Marine Corps and Navy organizations.
