Dr. Shivanand Majagi is the Director of Research and Development, Advanced Materials Solutions Group (AMSG), Kennametal Inc. Kennametal's Advanced Materials Solutions Group manufactures a wide variety of products made of ceramics, cermets, specialty alloys, etc. The products are used in aerospace, defense, electronics, mining, construction, food, plastic, oil and gas, energy, chemical industries, etc.

Dr. Majagi has worked in both engineering and research and development environments since joining Kennametal-Widia, India, in 1989 and has been located at Kennametal Rogers (AR) since 1994. Since becoming RD&E director in 2001, his global product development efforts lead to 50% of AMSG sales coming from products introduced in the last five years. He has held various positions in Kennametal with increasing responsibilities. He has implemented many customer focused technology teams, which have helped customers improve their competitive positions in their respective markets. Collaborative efforts have resulted in world record setting performance in a variety of areas.

Dr. Majagi enjoys building lean, motivated, result oriented RD&E teams that develop value-engineered products with a direct impact on corporate financial performance. By identifying, understanding and adapting best practices, exploiting synergies and engaging in fundamental research, Dr. Majagi nurtures fast growing customers to become market leaders.

Dr. Majagi holds a master's degree in metallurgical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and earned a Ph.D. degree in Materials Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia. Dr. Majagi holds many patents with many more forthcoming.

Dr. Majagi resides in Rogers, AR with his wife Poornima and daughters Anusha and Shreya.
